I've slightly messed up tonight by booking tickets through the southeastern website. I booked a Canterbury Stns - Maidstone Stns Web Off Peak Day Return for the 26/03/2014 and a Canterbury Stns - London Tmls Web Super Off Pk Day Return also for the 26/03/2014 by mistake.

The second ticket needed to be for the 27th and an open return not day. I've clicked refund on the online form but it will only let me print a refund for one ticket and it's messed up. I've not yet collected the tickets from the machine - what should I do to get these changed/refunded?

If you'd booked through Southern there'd be no admin fee for a refund.

Unfortunately with SouthEastern, there's a £10 admin fee per ticket.

A ticket office might change the ticket without charging the discretionary admin fee, but the chances of that are greatly reduced if you bought it online, and even further reduced if you're asking a different Company.

If you were to excess the ticket to an Anytime Return, no Admin fee would be applicable and the ticket would then be valid outward for 5 days and return for 1 month, but that excess is likely to cost more than the cost of the admin fee (in other cases it may well be less, though).

Unfortunately Southern won't show the web-only fares in SouthEastern's sale at the moment... ah, I did think about just claiming the tickets and trying to get the incorrect one refunded/excessed at the ticket office (though Canterbury West staff are a bit hit and miss when it comes to ticket problems). Essentially I'd need the date and type changing on it

Good luck avoiding the £10 admin fee - you'll need it! You may also have to wait for the money to be credited back to you and, in the mean time, have to stump up the cost of a new ticket.

Online deals can be good - but not if you make a mistake!

Thanks... I think I'll try and be nice to the ticket office guy in that case!

This has taught me to double check and not rush!
