I thought that non Advance Tickets could be refunded prior to travel.

Earlier this week I purchased a Super Off Peak Day Return from West Hampstead to Brighton from Avanti's website and subsequently collected the ticket for my partner as her journey would start from a TFL Station.

Unfortunately she has been taken ill and can no longer travel.

I was under the impression that if you didn't travel the ticket could be refunded. If I log into my Avanti account it states that outgoing ticket is non refundable and the return has been refunded with a total refunded amount of £0.00.ticket.png

This seems like an issue you should contact Avanti's customer support about. You are due a refund of £8.05.

Yes, walk-up tickets such as these are refundable until 28 days after their expiry date, whether collected or not. If collected, you are generally asked to provide a picture of the ticket cut through in half or otherwise defaced, with UNUSED or similar written on it. Alternatively you can post it back.

The maximum admin fee that can be deducted from such a refund is now £5, although some retailers choose to waive this (e.g. Railsmartr and Ticketyboo).

Despite Website saying no refund Have spoken to Avanti who have now issued a refund and have waived the £5 as the cancellation was due to illness.
