Hi, I have an annual season ticket that I originally purchased in February this year. It a London terminals to Sevenoaks with Zones 3-6 ticket.

I lost this season ticket (on a drunken night out) in May. I immediately reported it to my local police station and applied for a duplicate season ticket which I recieved in a few weeks.

Due to stress and depression I have quite my current job and handed in my notice. I therefore decided to apply for a refund for my annual rail ticket around 2-3 weeks ago and I was just informed yesturday that they cannot refund duplicates and I can write to them if i wish to pursue.

the policies of refunding rail ticket are as states:

Refunds are not usually made on a duplicate ticket that has been issued to replace a lost or stolen Season Ticket. However, applications for such refunds will be considered:

  • in circumstances such as the redundancy, pregnancy or prolonged illness of the holder, provided supporting evidence is supplied which is satisfactory to the Train Company asked to make the refund.

I have been to doctors and I can get a doctors note.

what is the best course of action to take?

thanks

I would say that your best course of action would be to write to the TOC with a copy of the doctor's note.

Bear in mind though that they are under no obligation to issue a refund on a duplicate - I'm sure you can understand the potential for fraud if refunds were offered as a routine course of action.

Sorry what is TOC? I am planning on writing a letter to the head office of South Eastern explaining my circumstances.

Do you think they will call up my company to confirm that I have quite because of stress and depression?

Sorry for the jargon!

TOC means Train Operating Company (Southeastern in your case)
