Just wanted to throw open the doors and find out what is happening with rail services the next few days.
I'm lead to believe both LNER & TransPennine are reducing there services by 25% because of plummeting passenger numbers. I believe Northern are cancelling many of theirs on Monday/Tuesday with maybe up to a third of services being shelved for now. Many drivers & conductors are affected anyway with self isolating & childcare impacts.
I used a TPE service yesterday & six carriages between Manchester & York - there wasn't 40 people on board which is shocking for a Friday afternoon. The conductor stated the RSM (if that's what they are called in TPE) are not serving hot drinks or snacks until further notice & have been redeployed to clean the carriages after service. LNER have suspended their on board kitchen services & thus made their chefs 'redundant' for now.
Does anyone also know if the peaks are still in place? I have an off peak return but I have not heard anything to say 'peaks' have been wavered for now. The whole point of them is because of 'peak time' demand which has clearly gone out of the window for now!
