Double-checking a planned trip, I found this warning on both National Rail Enquiries and LNER's own website:
www.nationalrail.co.uk
Is this just a complete mix-up or is there some obscure link between what happens at Dewsbury and LNER stopping at Northallerton?
Longer LNER trains to cover gaps in TPE services perhaps that won't fit the platforms?
In practice according to the journey planner trains seem to be stopping as normal for the times I'm likely to be arriving and leaving.
Pity they haven't thought to explain it!
Engineering works: Northallerton 26 May | National Rail
Reduced LNER service to / from Northallerton from Monday 26 to Friday 30 May. See details of routes affected by planned engineering works, including when they take effect, alternative timetables, advice for alternative travel, including info about engineering work and why it is necessary.
Engineering work is taking place in the Dewsbury area, impacting TransPennine Express services across the whole TransPennine Express network.
As a result, most LNER services, including the York - Newcastle shuttle service, will be unable to call at Northallerton.
You should use TransPennine Express services if you are travelling from / to Northallerton, at no extra cost.
