Is there anyway you can book on RedSpottedHanky using an evoucher and avoiding the booking fee?

I think the £1 is worth paying as a booking fee as a one off, for a higher value ticket, for the sake of using Tesco club card vouchers that have been converted to RSH vouchers.

Yes, paying say £41 for an £80 ticket is still exceptional value.

The RSP apple app does not charge the £1 fee, but unfortunately it is not possible (as far as I can see) to exchange the loyalty vouchers using the app. I do use this app quite abut to build up loyalty points but then have to use the web based site once per year to exchange my vouchers and pay the £1 fee.

I've had the same problem in that the app doesn't appear to let you use evouchers. Also I notice the app doesn't have the"show slower routes" option you normally get on webtis to show cheaper fares.

Paying £1 to redeem vouchers isn't much of a penalty but it does wipe out any loyalty points collected using RSH. Given they're ATOS's version of the trainline with a far smaller market share they should be more competitive.

It's annoying you can't use the vouchers on the app but I use the website and book several journeys at once for the same £1 fee.

I find it mad that a company that made a lot of business over its loyalty scheme (regular promotions on points, free points here and there, being able to earn them at their partners etc.) then started charging fees! The kind of customer who collects loyalty points is not the kind who pays fees for convenience. That said I will attempt to use my Clubcard points in this way and only pay one £1 fee.

I gave up on RSH when they stopped giving away those £10 E-vouchers. It's a shame really as their site was quite user-friendly, but if they don't offer anything above what other booking sites offer, I can't see the point in using them, even without the unnecessary booking fees.

It is a shame they now charge a booking fee, but they still have their uses, especially if one collects Tesco points.

Two separate issues. The free vouchers were about growing the business. The Loyalty Points are about keeping it. Adding fees ruined the case for both.

Its been discussed at length on here before but they way the revenue and costs are currently allocated makes it pretty much inevitable that an independent site will end up charging fees at some point. If they don't the economics just do not stack up. The current system is very much in the favour of TOCs retailing their own tickets.
