If it's a single journey, then through Standard Advance single tickets are available for £56.00 on certain dates, and specified trains, but this would probably involve a lengthy journey leg along the way from Plymouth to Sheffield on an Arriva Cross Country train.

You don't really know then until you know when your travelling, ticket prices can vary at different times of the day. Booking advance tickets within a couple of weeks of them being released is the best way to get a good deal.

The theoretical minimum fare from Redruth to Hull using one ticket would be an Advance single Route XC & Connnections at £32. My guess is that this fare is seldom available. It would use one or more CrossCountry train(s) via Brimingham for the bulk of the journey, with local connection(s) using other train companies.

Using more than one ticket, a Redruth to London Paddington Advance single starts at £15, Paddington to Kings Cross costs £4 by tube or £2 by bus (reduced to £1.80 and £1.20 if using Oyster Pay-as-you-Go), London Kings Cross to Hull Advance singles start at £9, giving a minimum total I can find in the range £25.20 - £28. The Advance fares should be booked shortly after they go on sale, normally just under 12 weeks before travel, to get these prices.

For example, currently available:
Tue 7 Dec 2010 14:28 Redruth - London Paddington 19:24 £15.
Tue 7 Dec 2010 20:30 London Kings X - Hull 23:11 £10.
