Routeing guide here is rather straightforward, just one map combination, both are routeing points.

There is no route across the Thames on LB that doesn't go via London, and EL has just one route across the Thames, ending at Surrey Quays, so there is no route further north than Surrey Quays.

Yes I set this up badly. Still need to teach myself how to read the routing guide. My destination is London Bridge. However, I was considering walking in from say a zone 2 station if it would save money.

An annual season ticket from Redhill to a destination that is Forest Hill, or Rotherhithe, or one of the stations between those two, is £2,220. Obviously, buying to Rotherhithe gives you most for your money. That is about £500 cheaper than an annual season from Redhill to London Bridge.

An annual travelcard from Redhill to Zones 2 to 6 is much the same price as the annual season from Redhill to London Bridge: it would require you to leave National Rail/London Underground in Zone 2, but would allow you to use buses into Zone 1.

An annual travelcard from Redhill to Zones 3 to 6 is £2,436. You could get as far as Honor Oak Park with that, but could then use a bus (e.g. the 63) into Zone 1. That would save about £300 compared with an annual season into London Bridge.

You could get a ticket to Elephant & Castle routed Not Via London which is nearer to London Bridge than Surrey Quays is.

I don't think there are any magic options.

Off-Peak Day Return, Redhill-London Bridge is £11.80.

Off-Peak Day Return, Redhill-Rotherhithe is £8.60 (same price as to Surrey Quays).
Then a two mile walk along the Thames Path (well signposted, almost all next to the river) to London Bridge.
Journey time on the train not bad if you catch a direct train between Redhill and New Cross Gate, then change onto London Overground and v.v.

Off-Peak Day Return, Redhill-Elephant & Castle - Route: NOT LONDON - is £9.40.
Then a pretty straightforward one mile walk up Newington Causeway and Borough High St to the actual London Bridge.
However the rail journey is longer and rather clunky, with two changes at East Croydon and Denmark Hill. (Or other more convoluted routes if you want.)


Edit - greatkingrat got the E&C suggestion in before me I see! And I hadn't considered this was a commute / season ticket question, which in hindsight is kinda obvious!

The 63 bus doesn't actually go past Honor Oak Park station (the nearest stop is just over half a mile away, up and over a steep-ish hill!). There is the 171 and 172 buses which head towards town, but even with chopping and changing at say New Cross onto the 21 it'd be a somewhat tiresome commute taking in the whole length of the Old Kent Road.

Fold-up bike, cycle from Rotherhithe to London Bridge? Worth noting the riverside path is not a cycle route, and the side streets to the north of Jamaica Rd don't really mesh together in order to make a back street cycle route. Jamaica Rd does however have lots of 24/7 bus lanes, albeit with lots of buses too!

I cycle on Jamaica Road/Tooley Street most weeks and it's fairly straightforward using the bus lanes. Certainly faster than doing it in a car!
