Hi,

I'm looking at Redhill/Coulsdon as a possible area to move to and will need to commute to Bond Street/Oxford Circus for work. It's hard to make sense of all the info online surrounding the changes to the line so can anyone help?

Is the commute from these stations really as bad as it looks? Is it pretty much guaranteed that I won't get a seat if I were to try and get a train at around 7.30am? Are the services from Victoria and London Bridge extremely unreliable?

Sorry for all the questions, but we'd only just decided on the Redhill area and now it looks like it's going to make my life hell...

Many thanks,

Amy

PTSO or platform depending on the weather
I'm sure somebody else has asked this in a previous thread and there have been lots of good replies on it by people who use the route.

I think one of the problems is that the trains that stop there have come from further afield (e.g. Horsham and the south coast) so will already be full by the time they stop at Redhill. And of course, many services bypass Redhill altogether by using the avoiding (Quarry) lines.

I don't know if the Reigate stoppers still run; there is an hourly service from Tonbridge during the day (but don't know about the peaks) but these did/do run to London Bridge - not Victoria.

I'm sure you will get some more concise answers soon

Good luck. For at least the next 18 months it'll awful. You'll be lucky to get a seat from Coulsdon on any train between 07.00 and 08.00. Southern hate us that live on the Redhill loop, they must else the "service" wouldn't be getting worse and worse. When it goes wrong we become the forgotton railway.

Well, you could use the Tonbridge services - change at London Bridge onto the Jubilee Line to Bond Street.

View attachment 24533 all change in the next timetable change over lol

Correct, off peak times are changing next month as discussed a number of times on this forum but the peak timetable isn't changing.

From December 2018 there will be further changes and it would look likely that Coulsdon South will have 4tph all day to London Bridge / Thameslink.

Is there a specification for numbers of peak trains to each terminal in December 2018 from each station in the TSGN franchise papers or is that not yet tied down?
