Hello guys, just looking at tickets on Crosscountry for the above dates.

I want to 06:37 from Redcar Central, 2 changes then arriving into BHI at 10:54 and then return on the 15:04 from BHI with the 2 changes and arriving at RCC at 19:11.

Am I better to just buy the two singles for £69.00, or do the £73.50 off peak return for more flexibility, particularly on the return journey? Am I right in thinking that the peak restrictions are not valid on a Saturday?

According to NFM 07 restriction code 2V applies the details for which appear below:

The details for 2V
Restriction applies to Outward
and Return travel, Monday to
Friday only.
No travel restrictions on
other days.

So you should be fine.

As this is a day return you need not be ripped off!

Redcar - York CDR (Rte: Not Darlington) £11.00
York - Sheffield CDR £16.30
Sheffield-Derby CDR £8.80
Derby-Birmingham Intl CDR £14.10
Total = £50.20

Saving approx 1/3 off!

Further savings can be made by replacing Sheffield-Derby with a Derbyshire Wayfarer (£8.50 I think!) which is valid as far as Burton-upon-Trent. This cannot be bought online but can be bought at the station (if ticket issuing facilities are available at Redcar Central) or on the train (if the ticket issuer can find it, perhaps someone can say how to find it in the list of rovers).
