22nd May

313030 :D (Didn't even have to search for the bugger, first unit which pulled into Finsbury heading north), all Great Northern 313s cleared (5 /2s left to get on the coastways)

Oh, well. That was easy.

Congratulations on clearing the 323s and 390s, they must have taken some time to get done. I cleared the 323s quite some time ago now, only EMU class I have cleared now.

I also only need 1 508, in my case it's 508139. One day! My next bash to Leeds a week tomorrow should produce a lot of progress towards clearing the Northern fleet, quite the big job that!

Thanks. 323s weren't too bad but Pendolinos took absolutely ages as I wanted to do them without gen, and a fair bit of wasted hours on Daytrippers hoping for some good news at the hellhole known as New Street.

Northern's fleet are tedious, as they are scattered around so broadly, so a big dose of luck is certainly needed in order to track down the last few. Aside from SWT 158/159s and Chiltern 165s, that is where the focus of my diesel requirement is. After today I still apparently require 46 (18 uncomfortable Pacers, three nice Pacers, eight 150s, four dogboxes, two 155s, and eleven 156s).

508115 is my last one. 508139 seems to be out every time I am around. Not today though (not that I saw all units out), mind.

Spread out is right for the Northern fleet! I haven't looked lately at the numbers of requirements I have with Northern, but the number will certainly be extensive!

Not the best day unit wise, got caught up doing some tidying up of station visits

Here's hoping for a required 67 for tomorrow's trip to Liverpool :)

Welcome to the world of the Northern random unit generator! Put it this way: I've boarded 158s ten times in the last week between Hellifield and Settle, all of them a different unit (nine of which were winners which was handy). Great if you've just started out like me... not so great if you're trying to hunt something down as you never quite know what's going to be coming next!

Oh yes, the NRDMUG can be quite, well, random at the best of times! Fortunately not when it comes to the 323s mind, wouldn't want a 142 vice 323!

I do wonder how generous the NRDMUG will be a week today when I attack the Harrogate Loop and have a bit of a clear out of shacks there. Only one way to find out, and that's for you to follow the action on Twitter and await the trip report here! ;)

Probably a mix of 150, 153, 155s on the loop, with a 144 thrown in for good measures.

67 on today's tour to Liverpool is 67026, which rings a bell.

Dud, had it on the Shropshire union tour back in January.

Well, it works two ways. Last time I used that line I expected a pacer and got a 155+153 both ways. However, I'm pretty sure (not certain as it was before I recorded units) it was the same 155+153!

If Pacers do produce, then so long as they're winners on the longer moves I don't mind! According to my count I only need 9 shacks on the Harrogate loop so that should be easy enough to do.

All will be revealed in the next 168 hours!

This thread is meant to be for haulage, the thread for sightings is HERE though it isn't as well used as this one for some reason (I would have thought that more people do "spotting" than "bashing"?)

One new one last weekend for me - 41001 at Ruddington. Another weekend which initially looked promising, with a potential 08 on the BLS tour, an 08 at Didcot and a 66 at the Wensleydale, all of which went out of the window in the few days leading up to the Bank Holiday :(

It's just as bad this weekend with D2371 not being ready in time for Sunday :(

I'm just hoping either 37606 or 37611 (or even both) are still on the Cumbrian loco hauled diagrams on Saturday, both of which I still need for haulage.

Aye I would have thought the same as you there. Perhaps the sightings thread is less well known about, that being said it wasn't too popular in 2014 either. Either that or more of us are haulage enthusiasts than spotters these days?

Nor sure how other many other people work it like this but 99% of my scores are from legitimate travel I need for work or social commitments which is fine for haulage, but I tried doing sightings for a day once and it's just too intensive. I'm fine with spotting if I go out intentionally for it and stay in one place but I haven't done that for years. When on the move scoring sights is a pain, I only record interesting or unusual stuff :)
