YTD figures due tomorrow night, once I've counted them all up again. Not bad considering I didn't get to the Southern Region until 1428!

It was a "normal" visit to London (two visits in two weeks! never thought that would happen.)

It seems I haven't updated here for a while. Not that I have done that much to be honest. I thought I had but couldn't find any more recent post! Never mind!

I've not yet updated my moves book, so the YTD figure is delayed. I'm hoping that will be available tonight, and that I also have similar good luck in 2 weeks time when I head north!

So 313030 is about, that is good news :)

Hopefully it will bump into me on Friday when I'm doing the Great Northern Shacks within the zones.

Techni:
Last GN 313, still got 5 313/2s to track down

That was a busy time! You'll be making Kite159 jealous as you got his last 313!

So I did! Didn't dawn on me earlier.

313 is next on my "to do" list in London hence the camping out at the Old Street - Essex Road section this afternoon.

Not sure what to prioritise after that.

So 313030 is about, that is good news :)

Ta :)

Hope the tunnel didn't get boring after a while, Drayton Park is slightly better for being in the open air.

I assume you have got the 315s/317s covered which are heading to LOROL/XR at the end of the month?

I did move about a little later on towards Drayton Park and Finsbury Park. Drayton Park was a useful spot for observing units, but the OSIs at Finsbury Park played havoc on my Oyster card.

The underground hop was good when there were lots of units to go, so could just go for them blindly.

I assume you have got the 315s/317s covered which are heading to LOROL/XR at the end of the month?

How did you know! :D

I finally managed to find some time to cover the slow lines between Stratford and Romford, which will be more difficult to do on GA post-transfer, but the signal failure at Bethnal Green very nearly put paid to that.

You use an Oyster card when unit hunting?

If only within Zones 1-4, yes.

I will not pay the huge premium on a Travelcard unnecessarily. It just requires a bit of careful planning in respect of OSIs and maximum journey times, although still from time to time I have to ring the helpline to resolve some unexpected maximum journey charges, but the operators at the helpline have all been very good so far.

So I make lots of use of MikeWh's website.

Yes, standalone validators are the worst for causing issues. I touched on the one by the old-style wide swing gate (no new-style wide barrier there) at Barking after a good 10 or so min gap to enter and it put it down as an exit. Which meant the short journey to Stratford came as incomplete. A barrier would have started a new journey if I touched in again within seconds, let alone after about 10 minutes. Luckily I had a Z1-5 season so it didn't cause a max fare. Also at Finsbury Park within 5 minutes, but I believe I touched in at the LU one after thinking of using that then went for GN instead.

Although I guess for me it is slightly different if I'm on a day-trip when the difference between a standard super-off peak day return & a super off-peak travelcard is only £3.60.

The OSI between the gates on the down platforms at Finsbury Park and the standalone reader by Platform 1/2 was a massive surprise.

Same problem with continuation exits at Stratford. I touched on the reader on Platform 5, waited 5 minutes, and tried to touch in, when it told me "Exit" again. So that was then followed by a sprint to the gates and re-entry, although I still missed my intended train so ended up on the C2C behind. That few minutes' difference made me miss my train at STP. Luckily the guard on the subsequent train allowed me to travel.

Now cleared my EMT 156s and require just 1 222. Also down to just 3 Greater Anglia 321s after a very successful session tracking them down in an evening peak.

A couple of days off work have netted two kettles:

Time to put the thinking cap on and work out some possibilities further afield for the weekend after next :)
