Hi,
Due to an unexpected change I've got a free day on Saturday 5th July. I think I should invest this in a rail related visit somewhere.
But where?

The boundary conditions are:
I'll finish on Friday 4th in Birmingham at about 6pm.
I need to be in Blackburn for about 8pm on Saturday evening.
I'll be driving but I'd prefer not to head south from Birmingham.

I have no hotel booked yet for the Friday night so that's flexible and will match wherever I go to visit.
Are there any interesting galas or events you'd recommend on 5th July somewhere between Birmingham and Blackburn?

Many thanks,
Mr Toad

Thank you for that suggestion.

That's absolutely great - the right type of event, the right place AND at the right time! It's rare these things all line up.
Cheers,
Mr Toad

If you go to that make sure you make time to visit the Greater Manchester Transport museum too, it is mostly buses but they do have a mock up of the original T68 tram there to and it is only 20 minutes or so on the tram from Bury.
