On a sunny day Pelaw station can be quite pleasant; as above there are occasional freights, fairly frequent northern services and the odd GC movement.
Also has an overbridge from which the stabling sidings and the splitting of the lines can be seen, as well as (just about) where the Leamside branches off.
Oh, and about 5-10 minutes walk from a nice stretch of the Tyne with a couple of good pubs and the cable works with hammerhead crane often loading onto ships clearly visible.
