Rebranding a TOC

After a couple of whiskeys later, something possessed me to change the livery of South West Trains, and even the fundamental design of the TOC. So I took the picture of wiki and edited it in paint to my complete pleasure.

I was wondering how would you brand other TOC, and how/would you change the livery???

(BTW, I haven't seen time to change the driving vechile to the new livery yet)

What do you mean by this? How would you go around rebranding a TOC (A paintbrush!) or how would forum members rebrand a TOC if they were in a managerial position?

Looks nice and clean!

I have a few new liveries on my computer I did for London Midland - I got a bit of inspiration from their special class 350 livery!

The SWT one is very bland. Also terrible design with the windows obscuring the letters.

Defo, I think they have settled with no grey bezel around the windows. Its a shame because it now lacks character, and just looks like anyother train. That picture you provided makes it look more appealing.

At the moment, im now working on Chiltern Railways.

I think the GA livery is unfinished at present, even the red doors ones. The 90's that have been redone I think are what the actual livery will look like on units, obviously adapted for units. The new vinyl logos are slowly being applied too after the trains are hand washed.

I used the CrossCountry 170 diagram, as I couldn't see much difference externally between the 168 and 170, which made it easier for me, as I didn't have to get rid of the gradients! :D

Short of Stagecoach not retaining the SWT franchise when it is eventually put up for tender, the only chance you have of a rebrand is if the internal Network Rail/SWT alliance brand of "The South Western Railway" becomes the public brand two. House colours are dark blue and orange (both darker than used on SWT colours), with three lighter shades of blue as the supporting colours.

We've got this in use pretty much everywhere in non-public areas. Slightly more confusing as all Managers have joint SWT/Network Rail branded badges, but frontline staff have SWT badges still (or Network Rail in the case of Waterloo station staff employed by NR).

It would be a mammoth task and also the SWT livery seems to work well with colours distinguishing different services.

However its just a bit of fun this thread ;)

Not actual liveries just a bit of fun!

On a side note, does anyone happen to know if there is a diagram of MK3 coaches about anywhere (like the ones on Wikipedia), as I can't seem to find any!

Out of interest, what is everyone using to design these liveries? I am using Paint at the moment, and drawing patterns, etc. is a bit of a pain!

Disregarding the lettering the green one is better than the current one.

Dark blue and bright red do not go together, it's garish

I think moden liveries are daft. stripes and flashes, good one is the new G A livery "white" unless you are going to wash them everyday they will look dirty in a few days

Back to the old days Green for units, Red for expresses. or even rail Blue

Would stop the nonsence of trains running in all sorts of liveries when operators change..we have GA livery NXEA and ONE on the LHCS just being changed now

At least with TSGN you have the different shades of grey AND blue! :roll:

Someone asked what program I use, I use MS Paint. I like that East Coast one has a bit more personality than grey, grey and purple

Talking of TSGN, I have just had a look at what the 455's may end up looking like assuming that the new franchise holder keeps the DfT livery (not sure whether they get a choice or not :D) and that the 455's stay with them (I don't think there are any plans for them not to!)
