So I just renewed my Rail Miles account and I'm trying to sign in via RTT but it doesn't show any of my Rail Miles. I know when renewing one needs to access via RTT now. Yet I can log in as a legacy Rail Miles account and it shows my mileage as normal. Have I done something wrong?

You need to hit merge accounts when you log in with RTT and follow the process.

For some reason 222603 is shown as a 5 car unit (even though it's a 6 car) and also doesn't have the same graphics PNG as 222601!

The 5 car is because it is how it is coming through in the data from Network Rail. The lack of graphics is because it is coming through as a 5 car and I'm not doing the prep work for it until it gets fixed.

I've seen the new fleet and vehicle search for RTT members. Great feature. Just a thought, the ability to search by unit and TOC as well would be a good addition. E.g. Class 158s and Scotrail, so that all the Scotrail 158s working today would show.

Having some oddities this afternoon with RTT+. I'm writing a timetable for SimSig way back in December 2011, but I've noticed the site is going slow. Some pages load others show 502 Bad Gateway - The server returned an invalid or incomplete response.

There’s also more clutter on there now, with symbols showing next to the number of carriages for AC, WiFi and whatever the other one was (catering I think, didn’t look too carefully), which looks out of place. Not a fan of that, not going to lie, no doubt for some people it would be useful information but it was always on the graphic before. So not new, just now it’s cluttering up the summary page which I’m not enjoying.

Fair enough if it’s just temporary. I can’t even begin to imagine how many people might be using RTT to plan their journeys currently.

It may be temporary in its current form but I'm not sure how up to three small facilities icons being added to the simple page is adding that much clutter.

We've added it because of the heat wave, and in some areas where there is an active choice between getting a train with air con and not it may help people. WiFi and power are fairly commonly requested things too so we added those.

I noticed on Twitter earlier today that it was pointed out by @Tom how suddenly popular a certain train carrying a certain freshly minted MP was on RTT. I was actually wondering if it would be possible to have a "top 10 currently most tracked services" or similar function? Along the lines of that found on Flightradar24? Not a particularly critical function but could be interesting just as it is on FR24.

I've thought about this quite a bit and I'm not entirely comfortable with it at quiet times (e.g. overnight) because RTT is not a global service yet. I don't like the idea of popular services overnight where we might be talking the number of people viewing top 10 services meaning that position 10 could only be one person - which I think would cause privacy issues.

Ah yes that's a good point, I hadn't thought about overnight where it gets quiet and yeah a top 10 could easily, in fact, be one person. Ah well, maybe someday once RTT is global

What about only showing "top viewed services" if there are more than a certain amount of unique viewers on that service?

It's showing Chiltern 165s as having USB which (unfortunately !) they do not

The refurbished 168s have USB A+C and a socket , unrefurbished only a socket

Another feature I've just noticed on Railmiles is the ability to search for "winners" from your traction list. It will show their allocated workings on RTT. A very nifty addition which I wasn't expecting to find this morning.

That's hardly RTTs fault. If the train is specified to have air-con fitted then I would expect that to be what is reflected, not whether it's working on a day-to-day basis. I say this as someone who regularly experiences such a scenario.

The departure boards at the moment can only show what's common across the fleet due to a data availability limitation (the same reason why on RTT+ downloads you only get a prime_power column).

To be fair, I did mean to leave a/c off the 159s for this week. I got on a 159 on Friday and in a 6 car formation I found one car with working AC. None of the 158s have AC listed on the departure boards across the network apart from ScotRail which isn't experiencing the heat this week.

I agree it's not RTT's fault and without RTT the rail travelling world would be a much worse place and I note Tom's comment re the 159s. I was just saying that, as regular travelers we know 159 aircon will likely be broken most of summer (although work fine most of winter!) and so irregular users may assume from an aircon perspective London to Exeter via GWR or SWR are the same when invariably in summer they aren't as GWR are much more likely to be aircon (though equally not 100%). On Sunday for example, my train was delayed due to an engineer trying desperately to fix the aircon, which they achieved for 2 coaches of the 6 by Salisbury. Several passengers commented that they'd have switched to use GWR if they'd known about the likely aircon issues as SWR had ticket acceptance in place all day. The situation wasn't helped by the guard not announcing after Salisbury that water was available in one of the coaches.

One thing I have with RTT that I’m not sure whether it has or hasn’t been mentioned, I got the new app they posted that a few weeks back, and found a few of the search function the features the website has is not in the app, such as the quick search box. Is it the case that it is not there, or am I just missing something, and if so, will the missing features be brought back in the app?

I do however very much like how in the app you can favourite certain services and locations, and there is a list of most recently visited locations too, I think that is a very nice touch.
