Regarding www.realtimetrains.co.uk

Can someone please explain the differences in colours.

Black times are running but what about the red ones, some are bold and some are light red? Does this mean its an available path but not running ?

I'm looking for freight near Darlington as the WCML is closed this weekend between Preston and Carlisle, and I think the Tesco express is running, also the sleeper trains are diverted, but again in light red, not bold red.

Any help appreciated

It's quite complicated, but if you are looking at a location in advance
(i.e. before any trains have run), then basically:

bold or light black = WTT paths (normal trains)

bold or light red = VAR/STP paths (i.e. 'specials')

bold or light blue = CAN (cancelled) paths


The bold entries just signify trains which are booked to call at the location
in question; either for passenger purposes, or a crew change, reversal,
pathing stop, etc...

No - black times are WTT paths, which (freight wise) may or may not run...

I have been studying freight paths for a living for 20 years,
and even I don't always know what trains will be running
before they set off - there just isn't any way of knowing
for sure unless your work for the FOC in question!
