Really confusing TFL Journey planner

Yesterday I planned a route from Victoria to Uxbridge for this Saturday and the route it gave me was on the Piccadilly line. Today I did the same route to print and now its taking me on the Met line. Why the sudden change?

Very simple journey
Victoria Line to Green Park and change to Piccadilly line for direct train to Uxbridge (do not board a Heathrow train). A Rayners Lane train is OK - same platform interchange at Rayners Lane to the Met service.
Alternatively
Victoria Line to Kings Cross St. Pancras and go upstairs to the Met platform for a direct train to Uxbridge

There was an email today (I'm signed up for line closure emails), subject:
"Important update on closures this weekend"

Dear Mr ********,
I am writing to let you know that the planned closures on the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines for this weekend have changed.

On Saturday, there will now be no Jubilee line service between Waterloo and Wembley Park and also no Metropolitan line service between Aldgate and Baker Street. Metropolitan line trains will stop additionally at Willesden Green on Saturday.

On Sunday, there will be no Jubilee line service between Waterloo and Finchley Road and also no Metropolitan line service between Aldgate and Wembley Park.

Indeed, the change in the advised route is due to a last alteration of the engineering works.

I'm guessing then that the OP may have inadvertently (on the second search) left the date as "today", which in the Friday would have allowed travel by the Met (as it was open) but for the weekend wouldn't.

As said previously, at short notice the engineering works were changed, meaning that today (Saturday) the Metropolitan line was suspended only between Aldgate and Baker Street.

Ah i see. Last week I saw that the whole of the Met line was closed but they changed it at the last minute. I had to change at Harrow on the Hill for the Uxbridge brach anyway.
