Realistic connections at Inverness.

I am considering doing a journey from Plymouth to Wick or Thurso in a day using an all line rover.

It is just about possible however it involves a tight 5 minute connection at Inverness for the last leg to Wick / Thurso (if incoming train from Glasgow is on time).

Is the 5 minutes enough time to alight from a train from Glasgow and board a train to Wick?

As it’s the last train of the day to Wick is it held at Inverness for any late incoming services?

Yes, if it shows in a journey planner. Inverness is a small station.

Highly likely, but you do risk being put on a taxi if there's a severe delay.
As always, inform the on board staff in good time.

Yes, if it shows in a journey planner. Inverness is a small station.

It is booked for Platform 5 but just check in case the connecting train is departing from Platform 7as that is considerably further away from the rest of the station.

As that is a valid connection you would be put in a taxi if the connection was missed, unless you were considerably delayed a taxi would likely catch up with the train by Golspie as the road journey is much quicker.
