Hi all,

My good lady has had the idea of modelling a small London station in the Victoria era (reading about the Necropolis railways). It sounds like a fun project but I don't fancy kit building any steam engines, coaches and wagons and the scenery are fine.

So just wondering if there were any OO Gauge RTR Victorian era locos available, I know the main suppliers still largely eschew anything pre-Grouping, but are there any smaller providers who make these?

Thanks.

I think it depends how early you want to go?
There's certainly models from the early 1900s around in the right liveries like the Bachmann E4 in LBSC. Or the C class in SECR which are lovely models. There's also the Hornby 'Lord of the Isles' which is a bit clunky but is a 19th century design (the real thing that is).
You can also get carriages from that era.
I think anything earlier than that may be a bit difficult without kit building.

The first London Necropolis station (near Waterloo) lasted until around 1900 though before they built a new one and knocked it down.

Interesting project.

You might have to repaint some of them to get into Victorian era liveries, but there is a current model of a LBSCR "Terrier" 0-6-0T. (including one in SE&CR livery)

Hornby & Oxford both make models of LSWR Adams 4-4-2T.

Some of the Thomas The Tank ranges of 4 wheel coaches could probably also be repainted into old liveries that all except nit-picking experts would not recognise as not being "exact historical replicas".

Like the others have said the only way you could do it RTR is probably by repainting the few late Victorian locomotives.

You've also got a Bachmann GWR City, LNWR Webb Coal tank, Oxford Rail are doing a Dean Goods. But beyond that really you are going to have to kit build. If you have the cash you could always see if you can find someone who will build a kit for you.
