There's a through line between Platforms 4 & 5, bidirectional. There used to be a through line between Platforms 8 & 9 as well, but this got taken out. There is also the goods loop(s) behind the station.

Wasn't actually a through line between 8&9, it was a loco run round loop.
It was taken out when VXC stopped using spoons

Reading has no fasts, only Mains, Goods, Reliefs. And you can do 50 now :D
The GWR preferred the terms "main" and "relief" lines, as opposed to the more common "fast" and "slow" lines, they are just alternative names for the same things. This naming convention survives to this day.

Correct, as when i went through back in the summer, we was stuck in the platform for a while, as something in front failed so the area was building up with trains and a 59 stopped in that bidirectional line heading west.
