Reading season ticket

I was messing around with the season ticket calculator and found a £200 saving by paying for a ticket beyond where I need to be

Then I was looking at Paddington to reading season tickets but wasn't getting any fares but did when I did when I did it vice versa reading to Paddington

Is there any reason why this is the case

I can see prices for Paddington to Reading at http://www.brfares.com/#!fares?orig=PAD&dest=RDG
£111.90 for a standard, 7 day season, to be precise.
Where were you looking that wouldn't give you a price?

The NRE season ticket calculator does indeed fail if you as it for London Paddington to Reading...

If you ask it for Reading to London Paddington it can only quote Travelcard fares for some reason...

£135.60 for 7 days.

It seems to be carrying out some sort of "which London Terminals are valid" calculation, but not doing very well at it. You can see this with London-Bramley season tickets. Starting from St. Pancras, it only offers the London not Underground route From Paddington, it only offers the via Reading one. For (say) Vauxhall, it offers both via Reading and via Basingstoke tickets.

The result screen doesn't, of course, give any indication of what the selection of season tickets it show actually represent.

I was wondering if that could be it.

Perhaps it's just a coincidence but the London Terminals feed lost Paddington as a terminal for Reading in the 23-Dec-17 update ( Since then only the 9 terminals on route 00735-Staines are defined - and AFAICS this doesn't seem to have been corrected in the latest update 18-Feb-2018). Without PAD defined as a terminal for RDG could that be why only Travelcard fares are offered for RDG->PAD?

Alternatively, for very little extra you could have a Basingstoke to London (any permitted, which included via Reading). Which would allow travel to any station between Paddington, Reading, Basingstoke and Waterloo, so even the occasional travel to anywhere on those lines beyond the normal commute is worth getting.
