Hi all,

I've downloaded the reaction test software and I can see the pdf file with all the different coloured squares - however is this just supposed to lay over the keyboard and then you hit the appropiate place as and when the colours appear?

Also the test seems to run for over 30 mins?

I must be doing something wrong - if anyone has any instructions / experience of this program I'd be very grateful - assesment test fast approaching

The pdf print off is a guide. Print it off put it in front of your keyboard and just touch the paper buttons when the colours are flashed on the screen.
It may feel a bit silly but it does help.

Also when I did my assessments a couple of weeks ago the colours were just circles and it was done on a laptop so the screen was quite far away when the keyboard was placed in front, so push your monitor back a bit when you practice.

About 25% fail this test (or borderline) so well worth practicing, although having said that I didn't practice much and found it pretty easy.

Press down hard on the pedals to make sure they register when you do the assessment, and your ankles will hurt afterwards lol.
You will miss a few but just try and stay realaxed and don't panic when you do miss them, the flashing colours are the easiest bit, the hard bit is not pressing the foot pedals when the high-low beeps sound over your headphones.

Have to say this is a very good training tool for preparing for the reactions test!
Obviously it doesn't rate your score but it does get you used to what you see and hear on the test and the layout of the keyboard.

Used in conjunction with the excellent GBT/SCAAT test software, it's certainly a huge advantage when preparing for the tests!

This reaction test is fantastic. I downloaded it and I am now fun fighting with my children because I cant get on my computer for them playing on it.

If you can keep up with this practice test tool once it gets to around 700 speed then the real one will feel slow in comparison

i found this a great tool and felt very comfortable when i completed the reaction test last thursday... this really does help and the speed gets alot faster than the actual reaction test on the day... so if you can keep up until around the 4 minute mark with this test then you will have no problem on the day.

I think once you've familiarised yourself with where the buttons are located, then this test is easy. With enough practice you can start hitting the buttons like typing on a keyboard i.e. not having to think about where they are. Also it helps get out of the habit of accidentally hitting the foot pedals when the high/low tones sound. This practice tool may not tell you your score but you can generally tell yourself if you are hitting the right buttons or not anyway.
