Reaction times?

Does anyone know the reaction times you have to beat when doing the tests on company assessment days?

I've been practicing on various free websites and getting similar results, but does anyone know the official times you have to beat?

They're not free versions of the SCAAT (shapes) or Group Bourdon (dots), they're just very simple examples of other things.

I just typed in 'Reaction Test' in Google and got about four or five 'games'.

EDIT: My average reaction time is around 0.237 seconds. I presume that's not too bad?

Just did the test in the last link and got 0.215 on the first attempt. Usually I seem to average between 0.205 and 0.210.

These tests are over too quickly to get any sort of effective results.

My average average time on the last one seems to be around 0.24secs, though I got progressively worse every time I played. Trying too hard doesn't work.

As with a lot of the psychmetric tests, it's not just about speed but also accuracy. I don't know what the reaction times they are looking for on the Fast Reaction & Coordination Test, but reacting quickly doesn't help a jot if you're wildly inaccurate.

Apparently playing Tetris or getting a Bop-It Extreme is helpful practice.

It makes me laugh anyway...... I dont remember seein anywhere on the application form "if you want to be a train driver you must be good at bop it!"

Im sure you will do fine, im sure all the experienced drivers find it insulting that we are all trying to get a high score on a kids toy to become a driver.

Bopit does not help you, the reaction test is easy, you see red circle appear on screen, you press red button, yellow circle, yellow button, and so on. It really is that simple, bopit does not help at all.

Also pressing a button in 0.25 sec or less is of no use, you have ample time at the start to see and react to whats on the computer screen in front of you. It does speed up once or twice in the whole test but it not that fast to begin with so you don't really notice it.

Oh and return bopit back to argos or where ever you got it from, save the money for a pint after you do it, and ace it!

Is it...? I didn't find it very easy and nor did any of the other candidates on my assessment (many of whom were also successful).

Bop-It is recommended simply as a practice tool in order to get used to reacting with speed and accuracy to a certain stimulus. Granted it's nothing like the actual test, but if someone wants to practice it is as good a tool as any. I see no harm in it.

There are 3 things they are looking for in the reactions test-
speed, accuracy and consistency.

Dont forget as well as the coloured lights/buttons, there is the foot pedals and low/high pitch sounds to accompany them, great fun

I found airport mania to be the closest pc game to the test as it makes you look around or stuff, or any other time management type of game would be good too
