RDG Railcards - any promo codes?

The online application forms for any of the Railcards on the 'official' National Rail branded Railcard website (operated by ATOC Ltd / RDG) all feature the teasing inclusion of a field for a promotional code... any time such a thing exists for any online transaction, it inevitably makes me wonder if those buying without a promo code are just being mugs!

However, in this instance I don't think there are any such promo codes out there... and I don't think RDG/ATOC have ever really offered much in the way of promo codes for Railcards?

I know there are occasional offers for cheaper Digital Railcards from the Trainline (and displaying them via Trainline's mobile app could well be more reliable than the 'official' Railcard app!), and there are also often promos running for Digital Railcards from one or other of the sister companies Trip.com and Trainpal (though in both cases the mobile app implementation is rather flakey) - indeed Trip.com are currently running one now, apparently until the end of the year - details on 'hotukdeals'.

But in this case it's a Railcard in plastic format that is required - which is only available from the official ATOC/RDG site.

Its where you put the code in for the Tesco Clubcard voucher, bluelight discounts etc.

The 'promo code' field is, as a minimum, used to allow Tesco Clubcard holders to buy a "free" Railcard, using a code obtained after exchanging £15 worth of Clubcard points (it used to be £10 until about a year ago). It might also be used for 'real' discounts occasionally.

But yes, it is a bit frustrating having a promo code field when you can't find a code!

Given the spotty reliability of the Railcard app and number of issues I've heard about with the likes of Trip.com in the past, I can certainly understand wanting to have a plastic Railcard.

You can get a 2% off code through StudentBeans for the 16-25 Railcard!

There are a couple of very small student discounts valid on the official Railcard site, eg the 2% StudentBeans one (wow!) mentioned above by HandyHat.

You can also get cashback through the usual sites Quidco and Topcashback of a few % as well. A few years ago I used a Tesco clubcard code, and still got the cashback which was a nice (little) win!
