We were given a bit of a bonus today at Ravenglass, they put a triple head service on.

It was in the gala timetable for today: Northern Chief from RHDR (substituting for Samson, which didn't like the points) and local Rivers Mite & Esk.

Yesterday's triple was the bonus, with River Irt added to the two Northerns Chief and Rock!

I did today's triple, but yesterday took the opportunity to take a run behind Katie to the top of the line. It confounded the sceptics and got to Dalegarth in less than the regulation 40 mins, admittedly with only 2 coaches.

Been hoping to re-visit sometime later this year (not been since 2018) but the current midweek arrival times of the Northern train services from Lancaster to Ravenglass (via Barrow-in-Furness) doesn't seem to synchronise too well with departure times from Ravenglass on La'al Ratty.

Isn’t it the other way around? The heritage railway should be tailoring its timetable to the mainline!

How long is the wait between the Northern train arriving and the R&ER train departing? I’d say that some spare time is a good thing. If you are travelling on a through ticket then, with the new system, you will need to book a place on your chosen R&ER trains at Ravenglass booking office. Last time I was there they were getting to grips with the new booking system and were taking ages to issue tickets.
