Ratho Station being rebuilt?

With the expansion of nearby new build in Ratho, rebuilding the Station on Ratho would be not only very practical to rea h the center of Edinburgh, but also pretty cool.

Has there ever a plan to do so? Anyone knows?

I don't know about any plans, but it would undermine its unique (?) status as a village named after a station*, whose station no longer exists.

The only other example I know of, Micheldever Station in Hampshire (2 & 1/2 miles from Micheldever proper), still has an open station.

*the settlement of Ratho Station is separate from Ratho, about a mile away.

Be extremely doubtful if it ever came back.

The line is extremely busy at that point & fitting another station stop in certainly not help capacity or pathing.

Add to this the still ongoing sit regarding any potential Wilkieston station, & there is certainly not capacity for both.

( Cue the Almond Chord being mentioned again ).

Ratho is also close the the park & ride for the tram, so there other direct links available directly to & from Edinburgh

As does Widdrington Station (unsurprisingly, Widdrington!) - although with a very token service

A tram extension through Ratho Station (the village) and then on the old railway alignment to Kirkliston would make more. It would cost much less to reinstate per mile than a heavy rail project, and additional car parking spaces could be provided very close to J1 for those commuting from further afield.

There’s Balquhidder Station on the A84, about 5 miles by road from Balquhidder itself. The former station is a caravan park.

In Aberdeenshire there is Udney Station. With apologies for thread drift, which of the three is more likely to reopen!
