G'day everyone,
Last summer I and two young nephews (aged 5 & 7) walked from Ribblehead to Blea Moor signal box. Knowing that they would be too young to attempt Whernside but that they liked trains I thought that they would enjoy the walk.
On arrival at Blea Moor I was delighted to see that the Colas log train was in the loop with the loco in the process of running round its train. Having coupled up to its train we then waved to the driver as the train eased out of the loop. Now to our absolute delight not only did the driver wave but we were treated to three long blasts on the horn! I have to say that this has had a lasting impact on these two little boys and the smile on their faces was a joy to see.
Now on to the point of this post! I've only posted this now because I didn't want to get the driver into trouble. Assuming that these random crowd pleases don't happen in built up areas late at night do managers tend to let this kind of thing go if mean spirited people try to make complaints? I would hope so as the driver was clearly enjoying himself and was certainly not doing any harm.
Any responses would be very welcome!
Kind regards,
Richmond Commuter!
