The profligate use of images in this thread made me wonder if anyone knows how many gigabytes there are and how long they'll last at projected future usage rates. Can they be recycled economically?
Of course they can - that's what the Recycle Bin is for on your desktop. Do you remember to empty it regularly?

The children are at Glasto this weekend. In some respects (the music, the atmosphere, party vibes, sheer numbers of people) my wife and wish we were there too. But then we remember the toilets and people ****ing up the side of the tent and all of a sudden we are quite content to watch it on the telly.

Ubuntu has a "Rubbish Bin" so I assumed they went to landfill.
Ah, see that's because Linux uses the bits so efficiently that there's nothing left to recycle.

Festivals are something I have little experience with, as I haven ever been to one.
Camping however is something I have lots of experience with.
I well remember a fishing/camping trip with friends, where my peaceful nights sleep was disturbed, when the air was rent by a blood curdling scream.
As it turned out my friend had got up to answer the call of nature, failing to take his torch he answered it.........on a electric fence.

Everyone's getting so greedy with their bytes these days. When I were a lad most people were perfectly happy with 48kB.
I think I had something like that with my old Spectrum. The rubber keyed one.
640K ought to be enough for anyone Bill Gates, approx 1985.
He could have meant £640k a minute in profits too.

What is the earliest acceptable time to do DIY on a Sunday? I can hear my neighbour thinking about it, and I'm considering a pre-emptive strike.

I agree. Quite rude waking someone up at 5am on a Sunday with loud thinking.
Solution for the dilemma. Next time, start on Saturday and keep going.
Tricky that. It's probably best to try tapping a wall with a hammer just now and again with not enough of a gap between each tap for your neighbour to actually get back to sleep properly. You should be able to start the experiment at 5am on a Sunday morning I think

If you turn the stereo up really loud your neighbour won't be able to hear you drilling, banging and screwing; it will also drown out the noise of your DIY if you still have the energy for it.

Well, as it turns out, the entire neighbourhood must have heard me thinking "don't you dare". By this time there are usually half a dozen lawn mowers on the go.

I never start my lawn mower before 8 on a week day and 9 on a Sat, Sun or blank holiday
