Random Missing Train (when with Bike) Cherbourg - Caen

Afternoon All,

Not sure if anyone could help / know about this.

So on Friday 6th June I need to get from Cherbourg to Caen with my bike, to get the 16:30 ferry back. So I want to get the 12:47 train, which arrives at 13:57.

If I go to the SNCF Connect site, it will quite happily show my this train.


Screenshot of ticket site. The train is the same as the 11:42, a NoMaD (?) with the bike symbol.

Now if I Add my bike to the booking, that train disappears:

The worst bit seems to be it is only for this one day - I tried the Friday before and it shows up. Now I was planning on just turning up and buying the ticket at the station, but worried about not being allowed on, as the next train doesn't give me enough time to cycle to Ouistreham (I'm not that fast!) I could get the 11:42 train, but limits my (already short!) time in Cherbourg.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks!

I suspect that the limit of bikes on trains may have already been reached, or they have swapped the (bike carrying) stock out for something else

If it's any consolation, I travelled in the same area and the number of bikes on TER trains did not appear to be being enforced.

Weirdly, if I go to the Trainline site, it does seem to accept it, since you search and select the train, then add bike as an extra afterwards... can I trust this is ok?

My guess would be the cycle spaces are booked up on that one.

Does it actually let you add the bike afterwards, or might it say "full" when you try to buy it?

May have been user error...

Just tried again and that train doesn't have the tick box. Strange. Oh well, will have to get the earlier one
