For all of you Pratchett fans out there, a new Discworld novel is coming out next month: "Raising Steam" .... Railways have come to Ankh Morpork and I suspect chaos as well .....

Steam is rising over Discworld, driven by Mister Simnel, the man wi' t'flat cap and sliding rule who has an interesting arrangement with the sine and cosine. Moist will have to grapple with gallons of grease, goblins, a fat controller with a history of throwing employees down the stairs and some very angry dwarfs if he's going to stop it all going off the rails . . .

My copy was ordered in July. And I would have read it by now if the publication date hadn't been put back.

I'm also guessing that's Ned Simnel, inventor of the Combination Harvester in Reaper Man.
A man, who at that time, seemed rather ignorant of the possibilities of steam
