Railworksproc2.exe stopped working

Since installing the latest upgrade to RW 2012 I am getting the error “Railworksproc2.exe stopped working”
I have asked RW support and then provided the info they asked for, but that's the last I heard from them!

Can anyone advise what might be happening with my RW?

I've had this error, but it is usually after something has gone up the wall and RW decides to call it quits!

Have you tried clearing blueprint cache and such like to see if it helps? Also, did RW work fine before the upgrade to TS2012?

This is what I sent to support in response to their reply:-
"in #1 [Verify Integrity of Game Cache] 3 errors were reported and subsequently 2 and then zero.
But on running Train Sim 2012 again, I get the same error.

In #2 [Possible PhysX or Graphics Card Issue run PhysX_6.10.25_SystemSoftware.exe] I find that it tells me a more recent version is currently installed
and this installation is aborted!

If I try to run the application from the nVidia website that also tells me a
more recent version is already installed and that also aborts!”

I have tried the Verify Integrity of Game Cache again and despite no errors with that Train Sim 2012 still gives the same error “Railworksproc2.exe stopped working”

I also cleared the Blueprint cache, but once again Train Sim still gave the same error"

They also asked me to send a report from System Information which I did.

Can you see any clues from this?

Guys i've been getting the same since the upgrade to TS2012. I've cleared my bluecache and still wont work.

Any ideas?

Having just had a quick look round on the Internet, a couple of suggestions are:

Try running RW/Steam in administrator mode (of Vista/7) to see if it helps.
Check the resolution you are using. It seems that a few people have had problems where for whatever reason the graphics settings are wrong and it just crashes the game.

This is assuming it crashes on loading and not mid-way through a scenario or such (apologies, should have checked this with you on the last post :P)

For me the error message appears very soon after selecting Start from the menu.

Another suggestion is try installing Nvidia PhysX. I was that excited when I got this game I skipped it accidentally, turns out you do need it. You can get it from here ..... http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.10.0513-driver.html

I'm not sure why it would report a newer version than that supplied on the nVidia website?!

Thats got me stumped????? ermmm. Is there a way you can uninstall your current driver, Then try installing the new one again. If not then its another bum up with railworks :roll:.

Just run the verfiy cache option on steam to get the .exe file back. On the games screen on steam right click train simulator 2012, go to properties option then on that pop up screen go to local files, and the option is their.

With the CTD error with railworksproc2.exe seems to be releated to uncleared cache files or a dodgy file sometimes. I've got a few scenario creating, but then randomly get them myself.

Thanks for that. But I wonder how the .exe comes to be removed? I think the verify cache was the last thing I did anyway, before trying TS2012 again and getting the same Railworksproc2.exe error as originally.
So when you get that error how do you clear it?

nandrews - I had the problem with the .exe file disappearing the other week (very annoying as I only had a limited time to play anyway and sorting it took most of it!) - verifying the cache should reinstate it. Why it disappeared remains a complete mystery though!

From what chris89 has said, I get it crashing in game too (most recently it is within a certain scenario on the Glasgow - Edinburgh route) though I haven't checked the cache since experiencing that problem so it may be related to that

The self deleting exe file seems to be a glitch with railworks/ steam.

Most the time just say close and should work again fine, sometimes though may require a restart or a restart of steam.

If your running Vista, try running the program in compatibility mode, i.e. right click the launch icon and select compatibility, tick the box and run it as compatible with Windows XP SP2, apply, exit and re-launch?....worked for me but that is vista.
