hello, Im new to this, so please be patient with me.

i recently installed the add on for Railworks 3 (WCML)
managed to load a scenario, completed it.

Since then, when i attempt to load a new scenario, the loading
screen comes on, 4-5 minutes later, the simulator force closes,
or i hear a ping, and on the desktop a message has come up
'something has gone wrong'

has this happened to anyone else? or can anyone help?
i await a reply.

Thanks for reading.

I'm yet to be able to load any scenario due to my system specs and get a similar problem to you - what are your PC specs?

i will have to let you know, im still building it, new parts on the way, but i can run games such as FS2004, Call Of Duty, BFBC without problems.

i just dont understand why it wont work, everything else works fine.
i added other loco's, half of them can only be used on the WCML, but wont work.

General Verify the cache should help you.

WCML-N is one of the most demanding routes for railworks sadly, and a lot of things can cause trouble on it. I haven't yet had an SBHH errors on WCML so can't overaly help sorry.

But suggest going to the forums on Uktrainsim.com and go to the Railworks 3 section and post in the help or general area as more are likely to know the problem on it.

My addy for that site should be in my sig'

Apologies Yourtoserious, I was out when I replied hence my reply was brief.

Welcome to the forums :)

The problem I have is, I know, caused by a lack of memory in my laptop as loading the WCML North route completely maxxed it out. Having run the route on a friends computer, RW really needs at least 2GB RAM just for the route to run (not including graphics memory) - NOTE: this doesn't include what Windows or other applications may also be using. As my laptop only has 2GB RAM, it really doesn't like it

As chris89 says, the route is one of the most demanding there is and most of the other routes would run on a lower spec machine

i tried lowering some of the settings on the simulator.

and after playing about with those for a while, attempted to load a scenario
again it loaded a postal run.

managed to complete 60 minutes of a scenario before it kicked me out again.

going to keep playing around with it all.

thank you for the help.

The WCML route is a notorious resources eater. I can only run it with most settings at low and density at 4. Start with that and build up. When you get a 'something bad' you've reached your limit, though it's worth juggling settings. The RAM thing on UKTrainsim does help. It's still a fabulous route even at low settings.

Good luck!

I have this add-on, the WCML North version.

To be quite honest, I am very disappointed with it. It rarely loads successfully and, when it finally does, the class 86 train simply will not accelerate beyond about 20mph. It is really annoying.

I have complained to Railworks, but they sent me a generic thanks for your email, but we can't reply to everyone, we have registered your complaint.............. :-x

Anyway, has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks,
Tom.

Once you've mastered the tap handle the 86 is really good to drive. Challenging yes, but once you're on top of it highly satisfying. None of this namby pamby combined notched handle nonsense! Just remember to keep the needle in the green!

On the 'Royal Scot' scenario, there is a 10mph TSR halfway up Beattock. I don't know if it is just my PC being duff or me not understanding things fully, but the 86 loses speed up Beattock as it is, so how the hell do you get through a 10mph speed restriction? Is it a case of not bothering to slow down for it?

Yeah, very much agree with this now I've been able to work it. Really enjoyable drive now I'm not pulling my hair out trying to make it move.
