Railway workers emigrating to Canada

Hi everyone

Me and my partner are considering emigrating to Canada. Ideally I'd like to continue working as a trackworker has anyone done this?
Is any of our English training recognised over there and any idea how hard it would be to get a job?

from previous posts i've read, your experience may help, but qualifications won't as they aren't recognised over there. and it is hard to walk into the same role there, you may have to start at the bottom of the ladder. which area of Canada are you considering?

I'm looking to go to Vancouver but I'll be happy to go anywhere to be honest. Im okay with starting from the bottom again

Do you have a visa/citizenship/residency? If not you'd probably have to obtain the right to live and work there firstly. If not perhaps there are other options maybe companies who sponsor....I guess it all depends if there are skill shortages.

If you're serious perhaps do some more research on other websites that specialise in visas and then look up the rail companies.

I know Sydney trains/ NSW trains sponsor people but more in specific areas i.e signal engineering, ATP.

I would certainly look at visa options first if you haven’t already.
