Railway Stations Without Tracks!

As others have said, there are loads.

Keswick is a particularly nice example with the station and platform intact, but tracks lifted years ago.

Given that the thread was started by RichmondCommuter, I have to note that the station still exists in the real Richmond, North Yorkshire, as a wonderful cinema/arts center.

If can be allowed a cheeky entry: Beauly on the Far North Line. The station buildings and platform are still there on the up line, however the track has been lifted and the new single platform has been built on the down line.

As well as that, there is also Lanchester http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/l/lanchester/index.shtml (former Lanchester Valley line). Additionally, there is the Haltwhistle-Alston branch, including Coachwood, Featherstone Park, Lambley and Slaggyford which remain in various states of (dis)repair.

Alton station next to Alton Towers. Is now a landmark trust property (They specialise in restoring interesting buildings) and you can rent it out as a holiday let.

Opened July 1993, according to Wikipedia.

There was a long struggle for years before that to kill a proposed route that would have demolished the building.

How about the one at Morecambe. was it called Promenade?

Morecambe has several if you look closely.
Promenade Station (the third Midland station)
Stone Jetty station (the first Midland one for ship transfers)
Euston Road (LNWR) - OK the station's gone, but the engine shed is still there and its possible to work out where the platforms were
Scale Hall (one of the platform edges can just be made out buried under years of dead vegetation) - really in Lancaster, but on the Morecambe side of the Lune
and if memory serves me right, part of the Middleton Road platforms are still visible - but again well buried

Along Marriotts Way (which is the old M & GN Joint line from Norwich City to Melton Constable) several of the old stations survive. The best ones are Reepham (commercial use), Whitwell and Lenwade. Recently one of the platforms at Norwich City station was uncovered as well.

The long, thin building in the centre of this view is (I believe) the short-lived Bardsea station formerly accessed over ulverston canal from Plumpton junction.

Coalport West, Hunnington, Presthope (no buildings there, only a platform), Meeth Halt, Cardrona, Fremington, Measham, Woolacombe and Mortehoe, Dulverton, Linley Halt, Jackfield Halt, Berrington and Longville among others. Much Wenlock might still have platforms. You've also got stations like Bideford, Instow, Torrington, Fencote Mill and Rowden that have track for cosmetic purposes that aren't served by trains.

Tintern Station Monmouthshire hasn't seen a passenger train since 1959 but is still very busy with people as a tea rooms and visitor centre on Wye Valley Line route.

Another station without tracks is Bovey Tracey (Moretonhampstead Branch) now a museum. Photographed 2013. The platform side of the building is now a bypass.

Hainton Street is correct, Riby Street wasn't on the current level crossing, the platform's toward Cleethorpes a little bit, on Murray Street I think.

I could be wrong but this does look a bit like a platform.

There was at one point Howden South / South Howden which has since been built on, on the other hand Pocklington remains as the platform has been filled in.

Platforms 3 and 4 at Penistone, Woodhead and in somewhat railway related Peak and Northern Footpath Society sign at Cut Gate, Langsett which mentions Hazelhead Station (the word station has been painted out all remain in situ. The station buildings at Hazelhead also suvive, no idea if the platforms are still there or not.

Brighouse Clifton Road, the platforms can only just be made out as their almost filled in, Castleford Cutsyke also stands again its overgrown. Helmsley quite possibly still stands as the crossing box at Coxwold also is stil in exisitance, no idea if its a replica or not.

Yes, the trackbed is now a footpath, but the building (in commercial use) and adjacent platform survive in very good condition. There is even a surviving semaphore at the east end of the platform if memory serves.

Willenhall Stafford Street still has a single platform in situ, no buildings, and difficult to find unless you look for it, track was lifted decades ago though, but the clearing for it still survives along with the track bed.

The goods shed and one platform at Helston are still standing. The goods shed is used as a community centre with the platform having been made into a flower bed.

I always assumed that the station site had been obliterated. That the platform has survived is something I didn't expect, although there isn't much left. I think it's also unusual that there's still trackwork and sugnalling equipment at Heath town, further down the same line.

Some more I can think of are Melrose and Stratford Upon avon Old town.
