Railway Magazine indexing

As a winter weather pastime I have been compiling an index of my father's published railway photographs. I have a number of books which published them but I believe that he also had some pictures published in the RM in the 1920s, so I have two questions for anyone who has access to print or digital versions for that period.

1 Did the RM normally attribute pictures to the photographer - they should have, but it doesn't always happen ...
2 Would the indexing allow me to home in on his pictures - the digital version is described as 'fully searchable' - or would I have to trawl through page by page

For the second point, I guess it depends how you want to do it. Digitised files can have keywords associated with them which can by used to search (date, location, train, etc).

I have a subscription to the Railway Magazine archive, so I could try a search for you and see if anything 'pops up' if you wish. Certainly, it has worked with photographers' names in the past, but I'm not sure if that is only if they have a mention in the main body of text or if captions are equally included - I can't remember offhand.

That would be very helpful - the name I'm looking for is R.D. Stephen. One that I know they published, because they re-used it a few years ago (without attribution), is of an LSWR engine taken at Blair Atholl in the summer of 1921.
