Good evening, this is my first foray into the world of UK rail so I am asking for assistance. Next year my wife and I are planning a holiday using trains only for transport. We will be flying in from Australia, catching a train out of the airport, probably Heathrow, and then travelling exclusively on trains for the rest of our juourney except for catching the ferry to and from Guernsey.
What we'd like to do is take in as many of the 10 of the greatest British rail journeys as described in a couple of lists. See below:-
St Erth to St Ives, Settle to Carlisle, Craven Arms to Llanelli, Dawlish to Devon, Glasgow to Mallaig*
London to Fort William*, Ffestiniog Railway, Orient Express London to Bath (and beyond), Durham to Berwick Upon Tweed, Bluebell railway Sussex, Inverness › Thurso › Wick, Dingwall › Kyle of Lochalsh
Fort William › Mallaig*, Newcastle › Edinburgh.
My question is, is there a map available which shows all or more of these great train journeys? Coming from Australia these places are quite unfamiliar to us and we really have no idea where they are situated relative to one another. Any help and advice will be appreciated. Ian
