I'll jump in again, if I may:

How many people died in Britain's worst ever rail accident at Quintinshill, near Gretna, in 1915?
Not known exactly, as the regimental roll was on board and destroyed in the fire

Staying on the platform, how many stations have at least ten National Rail platforms?

Do double-numbered platforms count as one or two? E.g. Bristol Temple Meads platforms 3/4 - is one face - is that one or two platforms?
Active platform faces count separately; lettered platforms do not.

Neither 17 nor 19 are quite right.

That's a potential minefield! - how about Stratford platform 10A?
The platform counts; the station doesn't. I suppose a less ambiguous question, and one avoiding reducing it to a guessing game, would have been asking for which stations have at least ten NR platforms and not just how many (though I'm not changing the question).
Still not quite there.

is correct. The stations I have as having at least ten distinct-enough National Rail (including Eurostar) platforms are Waterloo, Victoria, Euston, Liverpool Street, Clapham Junction, London Bridge, St. Pancras, Paddington and King's Cross within London, and Edinburgh Waverley, Glasgow Central, Leeds, Reading, Manchester Piccadilly, Birmingham New Street, Bristol Temple Meads, Crewe, Newcastle, Liverpool Lime Street, York and Watford Junction outside.

Thanks. OK, here's an easy one:

What is currently the highest Trans-Pennine railway summit....and what is its height above sea level (in feet)?
