An update from @Whistler40145 on the recent guesses would be useful. He's already said one is slightly high and we've filled in the five immediately below that, so it will probably only take a few days rather than until September, because we can ignore anything above that "slightly higher" number can't we?

What is the interesting coincidence relating to this unit? No other 230s have anything similar.

I have checked this is not Googleable, but it is a bit niche so you may consult your Combined Volumes to see if you can suss it out.

They all are... but there's something of an interesting coincidence with this one, so you're warmer than it might sound.

The answer is, it's the only one formed of carriages which originally had the same last digits as each other, 7100 and 7500. All the others have different last digits - let alone two digits...

Ok - this should be easy. What did Sir Ralph Assheton, onetime Minister of Supply in the Churchill wartime government, have to do with antelopes? (And if anyone knows why, I would be very interested).

I think that's sufficient to earn the biscuit, although the real oddity is that all the first forty one locomotives were all named after antelopes, with the single exception of 61306 Ralph Assheton. The other LNER directors were much later in the series. However a little post-question Googling makes the situation a bit clearer and seems to be something to do with production dates and whether the locos were built by the LNER itself or by the North British Locomotive company, which made 150 of them. The lner.info website isn't clear, but I am sure somebody knows.

Anyway - your open plain to leap forward on.

Thanks. The loco that was named 'Ralph Assheton' was actually no. 61036. The preserved 61306 was originally un-named, but has been fitted with 'Mayflower' nameplates in preservation. Next question:
