Well, yes and no. In 1828 there was a dead heat between Cadland and The Colonel, but it was settled by a run off in Cadland’s favour. That was still the usual practice in 1884, but the owners agreed to share the winnings instead.

No. Nothing to do with operators. MTR ended its UK rail operations in May and as far as I am aware have never operated in the Netherlands. What I am looking for are three separate items which serve the same purpose.

Correct. All thee incidentally are based on the same technology. Octopus launched in 1997 although various trials had been carried out prior to that. Oyster launched in 2003 and OV chipkaart was first used on the Rotterdam Metro in 2005 and gradually extended to all other public transport in the Netherlands by 2014.
