All correct. Well done! Now shall I give you the number of the 37? The clue is in the current TOPS numbering. The pioneer D6700 became 37 119, following on from the last of the split headcode batch; therefore the first central headcode loco, D6819, took what would have been the TOPS number of the withdrawn loco. Following 24 hours of torrential rain on 17th December 1965, the Fishguard Harbour-Cardiff empty stock train hit a landslide in the cutting just East of Bridgend station and was deflected into a head-on collision with the 37 travelling in the opposite direction on a coal train. Very sadly the Landore driver and secondman on the 47 were killed instantly, but the crew of the 37 escaped with relatively minor injuries - probably because of their loco having 'nose' ends. Both locos were removed by cranes to the nearby Hayes' scrapyard, where they were cut up a short time later. As I'm feeling generous (I'm only half Scots! ), I'll give you the loco number, which was D6983 and both locos were less than two years old. The sidings are yours!
