The original Woodhead tunnels?
It was, along with the short-lived branch to Gladstone Dock station; EMUs ran from Aintree Sefton Arms.
No, sorry.

Was going to suggest that. The canal tunnel below it must be the longest and narrowest tunnel in the UK.I have my doubts because I think they may have remained in use a little later than the late 50s, but could it have been one of the now closed pair of single bore tunnels at Standedge?

Big Bertha, 22290?

So far as is known, only one inside-cylinder Garratt was ever built and put into service. Which undertaking, where, ordered and used this machine? Other info concerning this (fairly short-lived) loco "would be appreciated, but is not demanded".
The LTM51 - it was used on a Dutch tramway so had inside cylinders and closed in motion as per tramway practice. Was 'borrowed' by the Germans in WW2 and sadly never seen again.
then, as you say, the Germans got it, and ???
Is it not in a tunnel in Poland with a train of gold ?!
I think I have part of this, all carried two names being renamed after WWII aircraft 5081 is odd being named after an American aircraft, the rest after British?
As to the other oddity I'll guess they were converted to oil firing?
As neilb62 said 5071, 5074, 5078, 5081 and 5082 had their various Castle names replaced with various WWII aircraft.
However Clifford, Denbigh, Lamphey, Penrice and Powis Castle names were all applied to members of the BR built batch of Castles.
As to the further odd one out I'm not totally sure, I thought I had it but it applies to 2 of the list. That is that the second Lamphey Castle and Denbigh Castle were both renamed again to Sir James Milne and Sir Edward Elgar
No, scratch that, I think the extra odd one out 5074 Denbigh Castle, the name was used on three Castles (5074, 7001, 7032)
Were they originally Star class locomotives that were converted?
No, afraid not.

The odd one out is 5054, Lamphey Castle - because there isn't (and never has been) a real Lamphey Castle.
neilb62 and The Edge can argue amongst themselves about who's turn it is!
What is interesting about 66737?
