Not Colonel Stephens, I suppose? Reputedly a loner, one who didn't "do" family-type stuff -- lifelong bachelor and celibate, not much of a member even of an extended family: had seemingly pretty well no interests outside of his railways and his military doings. (I sometimes muse on how those literary amateurs who write what is called "slash fiction" -- hot erotic material about gay action between extremely incongruous and unlikely male characters -- might have a field-day with Stephens and his sidekick W.H. Austen.)
