Having just Googled, I found a rather exhaustive page with about 10 different ghost stories on it....

Could we have a clue?

I can't remember if this is London Underground or Glasgow Subway, but I do remember reading a tale in one ghost book or other (I've read so many that they have all mushed together at this point), about a track walker who discovered a door that he had never noticed before. Upon further inspection it turned out that this door opened into a plain room with a man sitting inside, tapping away at some kind of machine (sometimes it's a typewriter, others it's an Enigma machine). In any event the stranger eventually ups and leaves via another door without acknowledging our hero.
Subsequently our hero goes back to the site but never finds the room again.

Open floor if correct.

Not correct, but its close - its in Glasgow, but not the Glasgow Underground... Have another try

Does it relate to the static steam engine and rope system apparently once used to assist trains through the tunnel?
