Correct. Contractors removed the wooden formers before the mortar had set properly and the first arch collapsed taking with it a crane driver. His workmates carried him into the second arch which then collapsed onto the injured worker. Removing him to the third he suffered the same fate and was taken to hospital. He died shortly afterwards. Oh, and the date? Friday the 13th of November 1903.

May I...?

I'm thinking of three adjacent stations; all are managed by the same TOC but that TOC's services only ever call at one of them. The stations either side of the three are managed by a different TOC. Two of three have level crossings, one has a junction. Name the middle station of the three :)

The three are Romsey, which is served by GWR's Portsmouth - Cardiff services as well as local SWT trains, Mottisfont & Dunbridge and Dean; the latter two are operated by GWR but only SWT calls there.

Extra bonus points for not mentioning Switzerland (umpteen lines). You could have also had Italy (Naples - Sorrento 950mm)

I’m not good on Switzerland – have felt from childhood that a country which already as at the mid-1950s was almost without steam, must have something wrong with it !

I enjoy “same-name” conundrums; so –

This is about two towns in the British Isles, which have the same name. As at “rail peak” about 100 years ago, each of these towns had two separate and physically unconnected rail termini, of lines of different rail undertakings.

Please give the shared name, and locations, of the towns; and the identities as at the eve of Grouping (Dec. 1922), of the different rail undertakings serving them.

Ramsey (Cambridgeshire) - Great Eastern and Great Northern

Ramsey (IOM) - Isle of Man Rly & Manx Electric

You've overcome the trick ! To be very, very nitpicky: the branch to the English Ramsey's more easterly terminus (from Somersham) was Great Northern & Great Eastern Joint, not pure Great Eastern; but essentially, you have it -- the floor is open.

Which airport in the British Isles can be reasonably accessed from a station with a steam train service? Name both the airport and station. Also, it is a public airport with scheduled services.
