I think that you will find that there was a connecting line to Tyne Dock station at the northern extremity of that line. There were passenger train services between Marsden and South Shields in the Bradshaw timetable of July 1922.

I was also going with Spurn Head! So to clarify no pier, industrial (even if they carried passengers) or narrow gauge? What about funiculars? In which case there are quite a few.

I got asked a question the other day, and am really struggling to get an answer. I want to know on any given day (on average) how many trains approximately pass through leicester train station. (including passenger/freight etc)

Any methodolgy in the answers would be much appreciated.

Which hospital was this, what was the name of the railway and where was the junction with the main line?

Horton was indeed the one I had in mind.

Incidentally, some traces of the line remain to this day.
