London Transport-( local authority Greater London Council ) ran the Epping to Ongar service until it closed in 1994.
The service was outside the GLC boundary in Essex.

Not dissimilar but the Élan line was mineral only according to Wikipedia.

Not quite correct. According to www.elanvalley.org.uk, there was some coaching stock there. They were for workmans trains mainly, though I'm sure I have seen mention of Sunday school outings on the line as well.

It was the Nidd Valley Light Railway under a 1901 Order. This required a passenger service to Lofthouse and used retired metropolitan line locos.

Just beat me to it. The North British Railway leased the Carlisle and Silloth Bay Railway in 1862 and then took it over in 188o.

They also built the lines in Northumberland north of Hexham (Rothbury and lines from Riccarton to Morpeth and Hexham, also the wandering line through Wooler).

Waverley Route

Caledonian Railway owned the WCML north of Carlisle which included Rockcliffe, Floriston and Gretna stations in England.

A referral to the minister for transport by supporters of the already closed lines for a re-hearing of the closure tribunal as the reasons for closure were somewhat confabulated and varied from not enough passengers, diesel units and too steep gradients.

The re referral was not successful.
