Railway Employee and BTP

Hi,

Does anyone know if a railway Employee can also apply to become a volunteer police officer? I can't find much information on the vetting process for railway employees and whether it is restricted depending on job role.

Yes, multiple BTP Specials are railway staff.

Came across one working on Avanti just before Christmas. It was quite the surprise for the little scrote who stole a bag and was passed onto BTP at Preston.

Yes no issue at all assuming you can fit in the hours with your regular job (particularly Hidden if you work in a safety critical role).

Perfectly possible. I'm a Special and I worked for NR who are part of a scheme called Employer Supported Policing. They gave me 5 days a year to carry out duties which was really useful. Obviously you need to manage your hours sensibly so you are fit to carry out your work safely
