Great photo, although i prefer the Runcorn Bridge lol.

Or how about someone take a pic of the Runcorn Bridge, with a Pendo on the rail bridge next to it.

A lot of people have said that about Sydney, but usually the reasoning is because its apparently full of Chinese and Japanese etc. Something i disagree with.
To me though it has more than most other cities. The harbour, the impressive structures (im including the Opera House in that, as i think its a lovely building), the skyline of the city when out on the harbour, esp when on the nice ferry trip over to Manly. A very pleasant suburb, and the ferry terminal does a very nice White Hot chocolate!!!, the walk around the harbour between the Opera House and Mrs Macquaries seat, including the lovely little park area that you walk past.
The walks around the southern clifftop at the entrance to the harbour. Darling Harbour, oh, and not fogetting the sight and sound of a VP185 powered HST!!

I couldnt care less what people inhabit it.. Yeah darling harbour is alright but again its nothing really special. Yeh the trip on the ferry to Manly is a nice trip to see the sights but again its nothing really special. I stayed in Balmain for a month in a rented apartment and that area was nice i must say as it was like a little village. I think the problem is that too many people big Sydney up far to much when it really is just a city by the coast that has a bit of nice weather

Melbourne is a much nicer city IMO and the train trip between the two is something people should do

Well its personal taste isnt it. I big Sydney up because to me its more than just a normal city.
Interestingly, to me Melbourne is just a normal city. I never found it that special. I much prefered Perth.

Hello to everyone,

I'm probably the most active member here from the Australiasia and the South Pacific and so some time last year I was sent one of the forums 'Rail UK' pin. So I've tried to get a picture of it with the biggest symbol of Australia. So here it is.

The widest bridge in the world has not only 6 lanes, a bike/walking path but two railway lines on it as well.

Almost certainly my 2nd favorite. It's an excellent bridge.

Forth Bridge is undoubtedly my personal favourite. It's incredible. Brunel's Royal Albert is nice too. I've been fortunate enough to cab ride both of them.

wow, never expected to see so much debate over bridges lol. Forth bridges does look nice, so maybe its all depending on peoples taste. My favorite is Sydney Harbour Bridge, to ride over it on the train and then to walk back over it at dusk and to see all the lights of the city is something special, once you've walked across it or done the climb can you fully see just how big it is.

But, my second favorite bridge has to be Tower Bridge, It really is like nothing around and would probably be the most recognisable bridge in the workld following the Golden Gate and Sydney Harbour.

As for the whole "Melbourne-Sydney" debate, like the two, both are equally great, some have pros in other areas the other has faults and vice-vercers, but for me Adelaide is where I'd rather live. Live in Adelaide and holiday in Sydney.

In HST news, the Countrylink XPT train service between Melbourne and Sydney has been very popular following volcanic ash from a volcano all the way in Chile causing hundreds of flights between Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Tasmania as well as trans-Tasman flights to and in New Zealand.

Never in my life did I think that a volcanic erruption in South America could be so disruptive here. I pitty those in Sydney that hired a car to get to Perth!
