I run a few vbulletin forums like this, and hack attacks like this happen from time to time. It's likely to be a brute force attack, with a computer controlled by hackers trying as many user names and passwords as possible. If the forum system has been set up correctly to ban ip addresses after a few failures there shouldn't be any danger of an account being accessed, unless the password is really insecure. A non dictionary word combined with numbers should be enough to prevent attacks like this from succeeding. If it is a brute force attack the attackers don't care what the site is our who you are, so this site or individuals aren't being targeted.
